Curriculum

Early learning at our centers and in our home-based program is fun, engaging and age-appropriate. We teach children the skills they need to be successful in school and prepare them for the future. In a nurturing environment, our educators promote the healthy development of young children. Through the use of Creative Curriculum, (The Creative Curriculum® for Infants, Toddlers & TwosThe Creative Curriculum® for Preschool; and The Creative Curriculum® for Family Child Care), we incorporate a wide range of teaching strategies, including child-initiated learning and teacher-directed approaches to best respond to children’s learning styles, strengths, and interests. By working with our diverse community of families and neighborhood partners, Early LIFE integrates learning in literacy, math, science, social studies, the arts, and technology, in an environment that invites children to enhance their critical and analytical thinking skills, self-esteem, independence, and self-sufficiency.

Family Engagement

LSSNY Early LIFE program believes in involving parents in every aspect of the program including their child’s educational experience in the program. As such, LSSNY Early LIFE provides parent engagement and education activities that are responsive to the ongoing and expressed needs of the parent, both as individuals and as members of a family. We support children’s school readiness skills by developing partnerships between program staff, families and the community by implementing the Office of Head Start’s Parent, Family, Community Engagement (PFCE) Framework.

The PFCE Framework focuses on building relationships with families which support family well-being, strengthens parents’ skills in advocacy, positive parent-child relationships, and ongoing learning and development or both parents and children. Through a host of diverse parent activities, events and opportunities parents are encouraged to participate in our program.
